Largest agro-industrial food organisation in Thailand awarded ISO/IEC 27001 certification
Press release: 14th February 2012
BSI Thailand has recently awarded the CPF IT Center with the internationally recognised standard for Information Security Management System, ISO / IEC 27001.
The CPF IT Center now joins a growing list of organisations in Bangkok that are keen to showcase their commitment to maintaining a strict information security control framework within their workplace environments.
As a subsidiary company of Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL, the CPF IT Center has been charged with the critical role to service all other subsidiaries regarding both software and hardware IT operations. The company recognises the need for such a certification and acknowledges that ISO 27001:2005 will indeed help to ensure appropriate safety controls to securely protect information and intellectual property.
Ms. Pharithacha Petchrungruengphol, Managing Director of BSI Thailand commented, “Thailand is a strong growth market and our IT infrastructures have improved in recent years. Initiatives from the government such as the “FREE 20,000 WIFI hotspots” and the “Smart Government” programme announced recently by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, will help to push the IT landscape in Bangkok and throughout Thailand. It’s inevitable that organisations will have to give more attention to measures such as Information Security to help manage its data flow in and out of the organisation.”
The increased number of certificates issued by BSI Group Thailand shows that many more organisations are taking information security seriously. BSI Group Thailand has taken a step further by partnering with Thailand governmental agencies under the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology such as the e-Government Agency and Electronic Transaction Development Agencies; in order to help improve the overall information security landscape for Thailand.
